Quick checks before you call

Between visits

  • Check the filter monthly and replace it when it looks dirty. The filter guide explains the choices.
  • Keep leaves, grass and stored things away from the outdoor unit.
  • Keep the vents open and uncovered.
  • If the cooling weakens or ice appears, switch the cooling off and call us.

Signs to call us about

  • Ice on the coils, or an outdoor unit that runs without cooling.
  • A breaker that trips repeatedly whenever the system starts.

To keep an air conditioning system from failing during a Hillside summer, it needs one thorough maintenance visit a year. SquareHVAC provides that visit for homes and businesses in Hillside and the surrounding communities. Serving homeowners and businesses since 2009.

A maintenance visit is a single bookable appointment. There is no membership, no contract and no recurring plan.

Why book it

  • Problems are found while they are still small: a worn capacitor, a slow leak or a clogged drain costs far less to fix before the first heat wave than during it.
  • A clean system moves air the way it was designed to, which is easier on the equipment.
  • The visit is a natural point to talk about repair-versus-replacement for an older system.

The written quote

We explain what we found and what it costs, in writing, with parts and labor listed separately. You review it; you decide. Work only begins once you approve.

Common questions about AC maintenance

How do I know if my AC is low on refrigerant?
The signs: weak cooling through the whole house, the system running longer to reach temperature, warm air from the vents, hissing or bubbling sounds, or ice on the refrigerant lines. A low charge usually means a leak, and the leak has to be found before more refrigerant is added.
Should I repair or replace my air conditioner?
It depends on the age of the system, what failed and how often it has failed before. If repairs are getting larger each year and the system struggles to hold temperature, replacement is usually the better path. We explain both options and you decide.
When is the best time to book maintenance?
Spring, before the first hot days. The system gets checked before it has to work every day, and scheduling is easier than in the middle of summer.
